Morocco Itinerary 7 Days: The Perfect Week with a Private Driver

A 7-day Morocco itinerary with a private chauffeur — Marrakech, Aït Benhaddou, the Sahara dunes at Merzouga, the Atlas Mountains and the Atlantic coast. Distances, drive times and costs.

Seven days is the sweet spot for a first trip to Morocco. Long enough to cross the Atlas, sleep in the Sahara, walk an Atlantic medina and still spend two full days inside Marrakech. With a private chauffeur the whole loop becomes a single, door-to-door experience — no station queues, no group buses, no rushed photo stops.

Day 1 — Arrive in Marrakech

Land at Menara airport (RAK), pick up a private airport transfer and check into a riad inside the medina. Spend the afternoon getting lost in the souks and finish at Jemaa el-Fnaa for sunset and street food.

Day 2 — Marrakech essentials

  • Morning — Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa
  • Lunch — Le Jardin or Nomad rooftops
  • Afternoon — Majorelle Garden + YSL Museum in Gueliz
  • Evening — hammam at Les Bains de Marrakech, dinner at La Mamounia bar

Day 3 — Marrakech → Aït Benhaddou → Dades valley

Leave Marrakech at 8:00 with your driver and cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m). Lunch in Telouet or at the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, then continue through Ouarzazate to the Dades valley for the night. Total drive: ~6 hours with stops.

Day 4 — Dades → Todra gorge → Merzouga

Morning walk in the Dades gorge, then onward via the Todra gorge and the Tafilalt date palmery to Merzouga. Arrive by late afternoon, swap the Mercedes for a camel and ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes for the night. Standard or luxury camp — your call.

Day 5 — Merzouga → Skoura → Marrakech (or onward to Fes)

Sunrise over the dunes, breakfast at camp, then the long return drive via Skoura's palm oasis. Back in Marrakech by evening for one quiet dinner before the coast.

Day 6 — Marrakech → Essaouira

Three hours west on the new motorway to the walled medina of Essaouira. Fresh seafood at the port, art-deco Mellah, surf beaches at Sidi Kaouki. Sleep in a riad on the ramparts.

Day 7 — Essaouira → Marrakech airport

Morning at the beach, lunch in the medina, then your chauffeur drives you directly to Marrakech Menara for the flight home — about 3 hours on the new road. No transfer in Marrakech, no taxi negotiation.

What does this 7-day itinerary cost?

  • Private vehicle + chauffeur (7 days) — from $1,100 for a Mercedes saloon, from $1,650 for a V-Class van
  • Accommodation — $80–250 per night per room depending on tier
  • Desert camp (1 night) — $90 standard, $250 luxury
  • Meals & entries — $40–80 per person per day

A couple on mid-range budget spends roughly $2,400–3,200 all-in for the week, excluding flights. The 3-day Sahara segment is the most-asked-about leg — we publish a fixed price for it separately.

Frequently asked

Is 7 days enough for Morocco?

Yes — for one classic loop. Seven days covers Marrakech, the Sahara and one coastal city without rushing. Two weeks lets you add Fes and Chefchaouen; ten days is the sensible compromise.

Best time of year for this itinerary?

October–April. The dunes are pleasant, the Atlas pass is open, and Marrakech is cool enough to walk all day. Avoid August in the desert.
